The History of Elizabeth Wende Breast Care
Elizabeth Wende Breast Care is named in honor of Elizabeth Wende, the mother of Dr. Wende Logan Young, and to all the mothers who support, inspire and believe in their daughters.
In 1975, Dr. Wende Logan Young opened a dedicated breast clinic on Mt. Hope Avenue in Rochester, NY — THE FIRST IN THE UNITED STATES.
Elizabeth Wende Breast Care, LLC is internationally recognized as a breast imaging and breast cancer diagnosis leader. It is one of the largest freestanding breast imaging centers in the US and is the largest single-site breast imaging center in New York State. EWBC is ACR Accredited, and FDA Certified and is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
With significant technical advancements in the field, the patient volume and size of EWBC have made it an attractive clinical study setting for manufacturers of breast imaging modalities and accessories. EWBC has participated with the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) in several breast imaging studies, including the Digital Mammography Imaging Screening Trial (DMIST), which compared the efficacy of full-field digital mammography with film/screen mammography and the MRI Evaluation of the Contralateral Breast in Women with a Recent Diagnosis of Breast Cancer.
Throughout the years and the many advances seen in breast imaging technology, the mission of EWBC has remained the same, to provide the highest quality imaging and patient care, even when it meant breaking the mold of the traditional radiology practice. In addition, EWBC is deeply involved in breast cancer awareness events in the community and patient advocacy.
