Congratulations to Dr. Stamatia Destounis! 

She is receiving the Mary Grace Ryan Pillar of Hope Award at the American Cancer Society's Celebrate Hope Gala on June 5, 2010.

The Pillar of Hope award was created and endowed by the family and friends to honor the memory and spirit of Mary Grace Ryan, a Rochester native and lifelong community leader.

This award is presented to someone annually who offers hope and inspiration to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.  Dr. Destounis has measurably enhanced the quality of life for her cancer patients and has inspired others to support the fight against breast cancer through her dedication to her work and community events.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
